University Tutoring was founded in 1979 in the University District in Seattle by a school teacher with a vision for quality and meaningful one-to-one tutoring relationships.

Diane Carney, current owner of University Tutoring, joined the staff as a tutor for the 1996-97 school year. In 2000, following the owner’s retirement, Diane took ownership with the goal of ensuring that the quality services that University Tutoring has provided for so many years will continue. Since that time, we have continued to hone our individualized approach and have introduced new ways for families to stay involved in their students’ programs.

In 2011, University Tutoring opened its second location in West Olympia and we’re now providing high quality tutoring in Thurston County and the greater South Sound.

We are proud of our great reputation in the schools and community. We obtain the majority of our new students through referrals from school counselors and from our students and parents who become fans and referral sources. We appreciate that the good word about our services continues to spread through the community and schools.
