DIANE

Diane tutors in Olympia and Seattle, bringing 15 years of experience with one-to-one tutoring and teaching at UW, Seattle University, and University Prep. Diane earned her BS from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma with honors in Chemistry and a minor in Math, and earned her MS in Chemistry from UW. Diane challenges her students’ thinking by modeling positive ways of approaching a problem before working toward a solution. She’s patient and direct, and works to develop a good rapport with each student. “In every tutoring session,” she says, “my goal is not only to assist the student with immediate needs, but also to guide him or her in becoming an independent learner.” When Diane is not tutoring, she may be found sporting some serious (and original) Seattle Sounders fandom, snowboarding, practicing or teaching yoga, raising chickens, turkeys and dairy goats on her Olympia farm, or supporting public radio stations KEXP andKAOS. She gets a kick out of Found Magazine and often ponders word puzzles with her crossword crushes, Will Shortz and Rex Parker.

JORDAN

Jordan comes to us with experience working at the Evergreen Children’s Center, the Rising Tide School, and the Camp Four Echoes Girl Scout Camp.  She’s also a long-term and committed volunteer, having worked for the Sky Valley Food Bank, Books to Prisoners, and Relay for Life.  She has a BA from Evergreen, where she studied philosophy, literature, and film.  Her academic and work experiences have combined to put her on a path to a career in education, which she hopes will become a position teaching philosophy.  She loves to read, climb, run, and create homemade cards.  In addition to continuing to develop her own philosophy of life and education, she looks forward to building her own cob cottage, running a marathon, writing a book, and sky-diving.
