Want to sharpen your writing skills? There are many types of writing, all of which students can expect to exercise throughout their academic and professional careers. This course will build on their current skills and prepare them for what lies ahead.

Students will…

• Explore persuasive, narrative, and expository styles
• Develop brainstorming and planning processes
• Embrace creativity and develop stories
• Respond to prompts clearly and directly
• Communicate professionally
• Organize theses and essays

The first four group sessions of this course provide students a survey of different writing styles. Students will select one of these writing styles to focus on for their personal project. They will follow the complete writing cycle from brainstorming to peer review over the final four group sessions. Additionally, students will be able to schedule two individual tutoring sessions with their instructor to receive feedback on their projects.

At the end of the course, students will celebrate the completion of their projects alongside classmates with a publishing party including food!
