Andrea Skyberg
Multi-Subject Tutor
Andrea is an undergraduate at the University of Washington studying Physics. She has a passion for astronomy and all things space-related, and moved to Seattle to further her education in these areas. Before finding her home in physics, Andrea studied music theory, being a talented cello player. At home, you can often find Andrea playing with her two cats, Jupiter and Apollo, and her bearded dragon Riyu, or hanging out with similarly physics-loving friends.
Brian Schefke
Multi-Subject Tutor

Brian has been a tutor at University Tutoring since 2011. He earned a BS in cellular & molecular biology from the University of Michigan, an MA in history of science from Oregon State University, and is currently completing his doctorate in history at the University of Washington. Brian tutors a variety of humanities and social science subjects and particularly enjoys helping students to arrive at their own understanding of the material they are learning and to express that understanding effectively. In his spare time, Brian enjoys trivia, reading on virtually any subject, bird watching and (attempted) gardening.
Georges-Henri Hujoel
Multi-Subject Tutor
George graduated from Reed College with a BA in Mathematics. With a strong STEM foundation and experience tutoring one-on-one and in groups, George enjoys helping people reach their academic goals. In addition to his STEM background, George enjoys history and philosophy, and is continuously looking to gain a deeper understanding of these topics. In his free time, George likes reading, playing video games with friends, and working out.
Hunter Parker

Hunter is a second-year Physics PhD student at the University of Washington, focusing his research on Atomic Physics and Quantum Information. He received his B.S. in Physics from the University of Nebraska in 2021, with a focus of Optics and Lasers. In addition to physics, Hunter enjoys learning and teaching mathematics and programming. Outside of tutoring, Hunter loves writing and recording music on guitar, and races for the UW Husky Cycling Team.
Jacob Lundgren

Jacob has been tutoring since 2008 when he was a senior in high school. He has worked at various tutoring centers and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know so many young people from all walks of life over the last 15 years. He studied at the University of Washington where he earned a BS degree in Mathematics with minors in Statistics and Mathematical Physics. Despite his academic background, Jacob’s primary focus in life has been writing, recording, and performing music. He spent ten years as a founding member and guitarist of The Dip, where he toured around the world and produced several acclaimed records for the band. Jacob also loves gardening, cooking, reading, and spending time with his family and friends. Although he is now only tutoring remotely, he is very pleased to continue teaching and imparting his knowledge to students at University Tutoring.
Jaedin Davasligil

Jaedin discovered his passion for tutoring in 2016 while studying at Green River College. Driven by the joy of shared learning, he continued tutoring for the US Navy while studying Mathematics at Washington State University. After obtaining his Bachelor's, he began teaching as a K-12 substitute teacher for Pullman School District. Jaedin's favorite subjects are Math, Statistics, Physics, and Computer Science, but his curiosity knows no bounds. He loves animals of all kinds, exploring the great outdoors, and playing role-playing games. In his spare time, he enjoys coding, miniature painting, and riding bikes. At University Tutoring, Jaedin is excited to share his curiosity and passion for hands-on, deep learning.
Jess Waldroup

Jess is a dedicated educator and physicist with a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Minor in Mathematics. She has extensive experience as a teaching assistant and lab instructor at both undergraduate and graduate levels, where she developed a supportive and approachable style to foster a love for learning. Beyond academics, she enjoys playing the guitar and cooking, bringing creativity and curiosity to all her pursuits. Jess is committed to creating meaningful educational experiences and empowering learners to explore and excel in STEM fields.
John McCartney
Multi-Subject Tutor

John is a veteran of University Tutoring and Seattle Public Schools. He taught English, Journalism and History at Hamilton International Middle School here in Seattle. Before that, he taught English as a learning language to adults in Istanbul, Turkey. He has an extensive background working with special needs students, particularly students with Autism and ADHD. He enjoys kayaking and birding.
Julien Butwin

Julien graduated from the University of Washington with a BS in Chemical Engineering and a BA in the Comparative History of Ideas. She went on to work at a local high school for two years where she taught classes in math and science. One-to-one and small-group tutoring are her favorite instructional contexts as they allow for a more collaborative approach between instructor and student. Julien also coaches and plays ultimate frisbee, cooks every day, and loves her two cats very much.
Makayla Martin

Makayla is a fourth year student at the University of Washington, majoring in Sociology and Linguistics. She grew up in Peru, where she graduated from an International school. She has previous tutoring experience at a nonprofit in Peru called “Ensename” where she tutored kids in low income areas. She is now tutoring Spanish here at University tutoring as well as French. She learned French throughout high school and an immersive program in France. She enjoys learning new languages and sports. In addition to her studies Makayla plays rugby on the UW Women's Rugby Team.
