Lifetime Washington resident and recent Western Washington University graduate, Christian Phillips is a multi-subject tutor, focusing on science and math. With a BS in Chemistry, Christian is continuing to do computational biochemistry research as he pursues an MS at the University of Washington and hopes to continue contributing to research efforts after graduating. Outside of the lab, Christian spends his time backcountry snowboarding, skateboarding, hiking, and playing video games when the weather is not cooperating.
Jacob Lundgren
Multi-Subject Tutor
He/Him/His
Jacob has been tutoring since 2008 when he was a senior in high school. He has worked at various tutoring centers and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know so many young people from all walks of life over the last 15 years. He studied at the University of Washington where he earned a BS degree in Mathematics with minors in Statistics and Mathematical Physics. Even with these credentials, Jacob’s primary focus in life has been writing, recording, and performing music. He spent ten years as a founding member and guitarist of The Dip, where he toured around the world and produced several acclaimed records for the band. Jacob recently left the band to open his own recording studio and to dedicate more time to his family and friends. He is very pleased to continue teaching and imparting his knowledge to students at University Tutoring.
Jonathan Kriewall
Multi-Subject Tutor
He/Him/His
In 2006, Jonathan graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Psychology. He returned to pursue a BS in Mathematics and completed his degree at UW Bothell in 2021. Today he has graduate-school aspirations and intends to study Combinatorics. Having once feared math, Jonathan now enjoys helping students develop their own mathematical confidence. Navigating the complexities of algebra, precalculus, and calculus can sometimes be overwhelming. For this reason, he makes a point of keeping sessions positive and providing constructive feedback. “If students end a session happier and more confident than when they started it, I’ve succeeded.” When he is not tutoring, Jonathan plays music—he rarely misses a piano lesson—and exercises daily. He also reads, practices obscure memorization techniques, and for improved mental health, hugs his cat, Shadow, as often as he will allow it.

There, her job required here to take information from a multitude of sources and effectively break it down into understandable terms for diverse audiences. Jordan works with students on varying subjects with an emphasis on mathematics. Outside of the office, Jordan is a full-time student who loves powerlifting, skiing up at Snoqualmie, surfing or, basically, anything active.
Maddi Brumbaugh
Multi-Subject Tutor
They/Them/Theirs
Part of what Maddi loves most about tutoring is working with students to figure out their learning styles and what strategies are best for each student in studying, test taking and interfacing with academic bureaucracies. They also enjoy zooming out from the mechanics of how something works to incorporate instruction about how it fits into the bigger picture and why it matters. Maddi earned their B.S. in International Relations and Politics with a minor in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University. They also recently earned a master's degree in Public Administration from the Evans School of Public Policy & Governance at the University of Washington and are currently pursuing a career in policy research.
